The front cover oil seal can be replaced without removing the front cover, using tool No. 1175-AC or equivalent and a suitable slide hammer, Fig. 9.
1. Remove oil pan as described under ``Oil Pan, Replace.''
2. Drain cooling system, then remove radiator.
3. Remove A/C compressor and power steering bracket, if equipped.
4. Remove alternator, Thermactor pump if equipped and drive belts.
5. Remove fan, then the water pump as described under ``Water Pump, Replace.''
6. Remove heater and radiator hoses, then the crankshaft pulley.
7. Remove front cover attaching bolts and the cover. It may be necessary to lightly tap covers with a plastic hammer to break seal.
8. Drive oil seal out of cover using tool No. T74P-6019-A or equivalent, Fig. 10.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
