Subject: Owner Notification Program B45 - Installation of an Auxiliary Weight Rating Label on Certain 1983-Model Ranger 4X4 and 1984-Model Bronco II Vehicles Equipped With Optional Snow Plow Special Package (Code 565) or Heavy-Duty Front Suspension Package (Code 67C)

The purpose of this letter is to advise you of Owner Notification Program B45 and to provide technical and administrative instructions (Attachment I) and a copy of the letter being sent by the Company to owners (Attachment II).

We have found that some of the subject vehicles may have been built without an auxiliary weight rating label that provides information for increasing the front axle load capability above the 2,300 pound front gross axle weight rating (GAWR) shown on the Safety Certification Label. The auxiliary label specifies it is necessary to pressurize the air cylinder-assisted front springs to 55 pounds per square inch (PSI) to increase the front GAWR to 2,750 pounds. This information is also provided in the Owner Guides for these vehicles. The purpose of the auxiliary label is to place the information in a more convenient location.

The enclosed listing identifies vehicles involved in this program which, according to our records, were delivered to your dealership. The letter sent to owners whose names and addresses appear on the listing will include the auxiliary label and instructions for owner installation of the label to their vehicles. Owners will be advised that if they prefer, they may take their vehicles to their Ford dealership to have the label installed at no cost. We ask that you contact owners of recently delivered vehicles whose names and addresses do not appear on the listing. Arrange with those owners to correct their vehicles as promptly as possible. All stock vehicles involved in this program must be corrected prior to delivery to purchasers. Enclosed is a quantity of auxiliary weight rating labels sufficient to correct your stock vehicles. These labels are provided to you at no charge.

Please assure that your sales and service personnel are familiar with the details of this program so that they may respond to owner inquiries. In addition, this package, including the enclosed labels, should be provided to your appropriate service personnel for retention until required.

Your cooperation in the administration of Owner Notification Program B45 is appreciated. We believe that it will help maintain owners' satisfaction with their new Ford Ranger or Bronco II vehicles.
