Owner Letter Information
August, 1983Dear Ranger or Bronco II Owner:
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an information label that may have been omitted from your 1983-model Ranger 4X4 or 1984-model Bronco II vehicle at the time it was produced. Vehicles affected by this condition were built before April 23, 1983, and are equipped with the optional snow plow special package or optional heavy-duty front suspension package. Our records indicate that you own the vehicle identified by the 17-character serial number shown on the envelope containing this letter.
DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION:
Some of these vehicles may have been built without an auxiliary weight rating label affixed to the driver's-side door edge. The label specifies it is necessary to pressurize the air cylinder-assisted front springs to 55 pounds per square inch to increase the front gross axle weight rating (GAWR) to 2,750 pounds. Normalusage front GAWR of 2,300 pounds, as shown on the Safety Certification Label affixed to the lower portion of the driver's-side door edge, is obtained with the suspension inflated to 30 pounds per square inch. This information is also provided on the pages listed under "Snow Plowing" in the index of your Owner Guide. The auxiliary label places the information in a more convenient location.
DESCRIPTION OF FORD'S PROGRAM:
Enclosed is an auxiliary weight rating label that you can affix to the driver'sside door edge in the position shown on the illustration on the reverse side of this letter. Be sure that the area where the label is to be affixed is free of dirt, grease, etc. Peel the label from the backing paper, position it as shown on the illustration, and press firmly all around to assure adhesion of the label and elimination of wrinkles and bubbles.
If you prefer, however, you may return your vehicle to your nearest Ford dealership to have this service performed at no cost to you. If you choose this alternative, we suggest that you call beforehand and arrange a service appointment. Please be sure to have the enclosed label with you at the time of your service appointment.
Ford Motor Company is voluntarily taking this initiative as part of our ongoing effort to maintain owner confidence in our products. We appreciate your purchase of our new Ranger or Bronco II and look forward to your continued patronage.
