- HOT OR COLD DUE TO ZIP TUBE DETERIORATION

LIGHT TRUCKS 1983 RANGER

On subject units, the zip tube (9A624) may deteriorate, allowing underhood air to enter the air cleaner which results in a loss of air temperature control. Inspect all surfaces of the zip tube since deterioration will normally start on the bottom side.

If the zip tube has deteriorated, perform the following:

1. Remove the staples (4 places) from the adapter and flex tube assembly which holds the tube to the adapter.
2. Remove the other end of the tube (9A624) from the tube and duct assembly and discard.

Figure 10:

3. Install a new design tube E3TZ-9A624-G by clamping the tube to the adapter and to the duct and valve assembly.

NOTE: Install the tube so the protection plate is oriented toward the air conditioning unit (Figure 10).
