Pinpoint Test G: The Blind Spot Information System/The Cross Traffic Alert System Cannot Be Turned Off In The Message Center
Blind Spot Monitoring
Pinpoint Test G: The BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) System Cannot Be Turned Off In The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) Message Center
Normal Operation
The Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right (SOD-R) and Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left (SOD-L) communicate over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) with the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS(R)) and the Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system can be turned on and off through the message center which is part of the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system cannot be disabled in the message center when the transmission selector gear is in REVERSE (R).
If a MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use, the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or the CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system cannot be disabled in the message center.
NOTE: The BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system are turned off for one key cycle only when using the message center switches. Permanently disabling the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system is carried out in the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) programmable parameters menu.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)
- A MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use
PINPOINT TEST G : THE BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) AND CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) SYSTEM CANNOT BE TURNED OFF IN THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) MESSAGE CENTER
G1 VERIFY WHETHER A MyKey(TM) RESTRICTED KEY IS IN USE
- Verify if a MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use.
Is a MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. INFORM the customer of normal operation. Antitheft and Alarm Systems.
No
GO to G2.
G2 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) AND SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) SELF-TESTS
- Check the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) and SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) DTCs from the self-tests.
Are any IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) or SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) DTCs recorded?
Yes
For IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs, REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators. REPAIR all IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs and RETEST the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system for normal operation.
For SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) or SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) DTCs, REFER to the DTC Charts Blind Spot Monitoring.
No
GO to G3.
G3 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Check the message center for correct operation, while turning the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system off and on.
Does the message center operate correctly?
Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time.
No
REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators to diagnose the message center not operating correctly.
