Blower Motor: Service and Repair

1982-83 FAIRMONT & ZEPHYR & 1982 COUGAR & GRANADA LESS AIR CONDITIONING

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove screw securing right register duct mounting bracket to lower edge of instrument panel.
3. Remove screws securing ventilator control cable lever assembly to lower edge of instrument panel.
4. Remove glove box liner.
5. Remove plastic rivets securing grille to ventilator floor outlet, then the grille from the bottom of the ventilator assembly.
6. Remove right register duct and register assembly.
7. Remove screws securing ventilator assembly to blower housing portion of the heater case assembly.
8. Slide ventilator assembly toward the right, then downward to remove from under instrument panel.
9. Remove push nut from door crank arm.
10. Remove control cable housing retaining screw, then control cable assembly from ventilator assembly.
11. Remove hub clamp spring from blower wheel hub, then slide wheel off shaft.
12. Remove blower motor attaching screws and the blower motor. Disconnect motor electrical connector before removing from vehicle.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
