Wastegate: Service and Repair
1. Check that the wastegate activating rod is attached to the wastegate arm.
2. Remove the diaphragm activating rod clip and rod from the wastegate arm. Wastegate arm should move freely through a minimum of 40 degree rotation. If not, replace the outlet elbow and wastegate assembly.
3. Disconnect turbocharger down pipe from outlet elbow and wastegate assembly. Verify that the sealing poppet is free to move in the pintle and seating on the turbine housing bypass hole. If not, clean the bypass hole and sealing surface if possible or replace the outlet elbow and wastegate assembly.
4. Reinstall the activating rod to the wastegate arm.
