ISSUE:
There may be a coolant leak from the upper radiator hose at the engine outlet on some vehicles. This may be caused by an incorrect size hose clamp being installed on the vehicle during production.

ACTION:
Inspect the hose clamp for correct size and replace the hose clamp if necessary. The correct size hose clamp will properly seal the cooling system. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the upper radiator hose clamp at the engine outlet for a number 47 or 50 stamped on the tabs of the clamp.

2. If the clamp has a 47 stamped on the clamp, this TSB article does not apply. If the clamp has a 50 stamped on it, the clamp should be replaced.

3. Make sure the cooling system is not under pressure. With the appropriate tool, move the existing clamp approximately 102 mm (4") (it is not necessary to remove the clamp or open the cooling system).

4. Locally obtain a worm gear hose clamp capable of securing the upper radiator hose (approximately 38 mm/1.5").

5. Install the clamp and torque to 1.4-2.3 N-m (12-20 lb-in).

6. Check the level of the coolant and top it off as required.
