Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove air cleaner outlet as follows:
a. Disconnect wire harness from intake air temperature sensor, then crankcase ventilation tube from air cleaner outlet tube.
b. Loosen air cleaner tube clamps on outlet tube, then disconnect outlet tube from throttle body.
c. Disconnect outlet tube from mass airflow sensor, then remove tube.
3. Remove two radiator upper sight shield bolts and position shield aside.
4. Remove hood weather seal.
5. Remove windshield wipers.
6. Remove lefthand cowl vent screen and wiper module.
7. Install suitable engine support, then raise and support vehicle.
8. Remove front engine support insulator through-bolts, then partially lower vehicle.
9. Raise engine with engine support, then raise and support vehicle.
10. Remove starter motor.
11. Position drain pan under vehicle, then drain engine oil.
12. Remove oil filter, then starter motor wire and ground strap.
13. On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove transmission oil cooler lines.
14. Remove oil pan to bell housing bolts and bolts at crankshaft position sensor lower shield.
15. Remove remaining oil pan bolts.
16. Remove steering shaft pinch bolt, then separate steering shaft.
17. Position transmission jack under front subframe, then remove six rearward bolts on front subframe and loosen two forward front subframe bolts.
18. Remove lower shock absorber to front suspension lower arm bolts and nuts.
19. Lower front subframe.
20. Remove oil pan, then empty any residual oil from pan.
21. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube bolts and support bracket nut.
22. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube, then discard oil pump inlet tube gasket.
23. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. When using silicone rubber (RTV) sealer, assembly must occur within 15 minutes after sealer application. After this time, sealer may start to set and its sealing effectiveness may be reduced.
b. Apply silicone gasket and sealant F1AZ-19652-A or equivalent to oil pan.
c. Seat lefthand side locating pin before righthand side locating pin.
d. Tighten bolts to 6.6-8.8 ft lb in sequence.
e. Refill engine oil, then start engine and check for leaks.
