Accelerator Cable Bracket:
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly: Service and Repair
2. Using a suitable tool, push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal and shaft arm.
3. Remove the accelerator cable retainer from the accelerator cable. The accelerator cable retainer is located inside the vehicle where the housing passes through the dash panel into the passenger compartment.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable at the throttle body throttle lever by removing the core wire end from the throttle body cam slot.
5. Remove the screw retaining accelerator cable to accelerator cable bracket.
6. Remove screws retaining the accelerator cable to the dash panel and remove accelerator cable.
7. To install, reverse removal procedure and make sure accelerator cable retainer is pushed 6.35 mm (0.25 inch) onto accelerator cable.
Accelerator Pedal and Shaft
Removal and Installation
1. Using a suitable tool, push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal and shaft arm.
2. Remove the two accelerator pedal and shaft assembly retaining nuts.
3. If replacing the accelerator pedal and shaft and if the vehicle is equipped with a pedal pad trim cover, uncrimp the pedal pad cover and remove from the accelerator pedal and shaft.
4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten accelerator pedal and shaft nuts to 15-20 Nm (12-15 lb ft) and make sure accelerator pedal and shaft has no restrictions.
Accelerator Cable Bracket
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the screw retaining accelerator cable to accelerator cable bracket.
2. Remove the bolts or nuts securing the accelerator cable bracket to the engine.
3. Lift the accelerator cable out of the accelerator cable bracket. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.
4. To install, reverse removal procedure and tighten accelerator cable bracket bolts to 15-20 Nm (12-15 lb ft).
