The lap/shoulder safety belt has a dual retractor system.
- The Lap/shoulder safety belt has a dual retractor system.
- A shoulder belt retractor is attached to a bracket located in the quarter panel and a lap belt located at the base of quarter panel at rear of door opening.
- The safety belt webbing of the two retractors is joined to a common tongue.
- The lap / shoulder safety belt retractor is designed to let the webbing move in or out freely except during vehicle hard braking, hard cornering or impacts approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. Then it is automatically locked by a mechanically-triggered inertia sensor.
- The shoulder belt must always be in the belt holder on the seat back when the belt in use.
- The lap belt webbing passes through a guide which is attached to the seat cushion. Be sure the webbing is routed through the guide.
