Air Induction System

The air induction system supplies filtered air to the engine to mix with the fuel for combustion purposes and consists of the following:
- air intake resonator
- engine Air Cleaner (ACL) with Air Cleaner element (ACL element)
- Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF sensor)
- air cleaner outlet tube
- throttle body
- upper and lower intake manifold.

The intake manifolds consist of:
- upper intake manifold.
- lower intake manifold.

The intake manifold runner lengths are tuned to optimize engine torque and power output.

Upper
The upper intake manifold is a one-piece aluminum casting used in conjunction with a lower intake manifold.

Lower
The lower intake manifold is located between the upper intake manifold and the cylinder heads and consists of:
- mounting flanges for the fuel injection supply manifold.
- machined pockets for the fuel injectors to prevent both air and fuel leakage.
- the pockets in which the fuel injectors are mounted. These are placed to direct the injector fuel spray immediately in front of each engine intake valve.
