Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

EVAPORATOR CORE ORIFICE

Specail Tool(s):

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL







1. Disconnect the evaporator core inlet spring lock coupling.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
- For a fixed orifice, carry out Steps 2 and 3.
- For a broken orifice, carry out Steps 4 and 5.







2. Engage the special tool to the A/C evaporator core orifice, in the evaporator core inlet tube.







3. Hold the tool T-handle stationary and rotate the tool body to remove the A/C evaporator core orifice.







4. Screw the end of the special tool into the broken A/C evaporator core orifice, in the evaporator core inlet tube.







5. Hold the tool T-handle stationary and rotate the tool body to remove the broken A/C evaporator core orifice.

INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate and install the A/C evaporator core orifice O-ring seals using PAG oil.







2. Place the A/C evaporator core orifice into the special tool.







3. Insert the A/C evaporator core orifice into the evaporator core inlet tube until seated.







4. Remove the special tool.







5. Connect the evaporator core inlet spring lock coupling.
- Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil.
