Water Pump: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.





3. Loosen the coolant pump pulley retaining bolts.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.





5. Remove the coolant pump pulley.





6. Detach the coolant pump from the coolant pump housing.





7. Rotate the coolant pump 180 degrees within the coolant pump housing and remove it.
^ Discard the sealing ring

Installation





1. NOTE: Install a new coolant pump sealing ring and lubricate with clean engine coolant.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
