Throttle Body: Service and Repair
THROTTLE BODYREMOVAL
CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.
Vehicles built up to 08/2002
1. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1 Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip.
2 Disconnect the accelerator cable.
2. Detach the accelerator cable from the bracket.
1 Rotate the accelerator cable to release.
2 Detach the accelerator cable.
3. Detach the speed control cable from the throttle body (if equipped).
4. Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle body (if equipped).
Vehicles built 08/2002 onwards
5. Detach the accelerator cable from the bracket.
1 Rotate the throttle body linkage counterclockwise.
2 Detach the accelerator cable from the bracket.
6. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1 Rotate the throttle body linkage clockwise.
2 Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body linkage.
7. Detach the speed control cable from the throttle body (if equipped).
8. Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle body (if equipped).
All Vehicles
9. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
10. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
11. Remove the throttle body.
12. Remove and discard the throttle body gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.
NOTE: Install a new throttle body gasket.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
