Power Steering Pump-2.0L ZetecSpecial Tool(s)
Removal
1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
2. Using the special tool? disconnect the fluid cooler hose.
1 Insert the special tool into the hose quick-release coupling.
2 Move the special tool along the pipe to release the locking tangs.
^ Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
3. Disconnect the power steering line from the power steering pump.
^ Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Detach the power steering line support bracket.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Detach the speed control cable (if equipped).
6. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
^ Depress the locking tang.
7. Disconnect the power steering hose from the power steering pump.
^ Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
8. Remove the power steering pump.
9. Remove the PSP switch.
Installation
1. NOTE: If installing a new power steering pump, the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and retained for future use.
Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal onto the steering gear to power steering pump union.
1 Push the new O-ring seal onto the special tool.
2 Locate the special tool onto the union and install the O-ring seal.
2. Install the PSP switch.
3. Install the power steering pump.
4. Connect the power steering hose to the power steering pump.
5. Connect the PSP switch electrical connector.
6. Attach the power steering line support bracket.
^ Attach the bolts.
^ Attach the speed control cable (if equipped).
7. Raise and support the vehicle.
8. Connect the power steering line.
9. Connect the fluid cooler hose.
10. Install the accessory drive belt.
11. Fill the power steering system.
