Valve Spring: Service and Repair

Valve Springs





Special Tool(s)





Material

Removal
1. Remove the camshafts. Take out valve tappets and place to one side in sequence.





2. WARNING: Always wear protective goggles when working with compressed air. Failure to do so may lead to injury.

Unscrew the spark plug from the first cylinder and attach the special tool.





3. CAUTION: Air pressure is between seven and ten bar.

Attach the special tools and apply compressed air to the cylinder.
1. Compress the valve spring.
2. Take out the valve collets.
Take out the valve spring retainer and the valve spring.

Installation





1. NOTE: Check that the valve collets are correctly seated.

Install the valve springs.
^ Insert the valve springs and valve spring retainer.
1. Compress the valve springs.
2. Fit the valve collets.

2. NOTE: Do not tighten yet.

Detach special tool 303-363 and Insert the spark plug.
3. Repeat the operations for all the other cylinders.
4. Coat the valve tappet with engine oil and insert it.
5. Remove the camshafts.
