Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
FUEL INJECTION SUPPLY MANIFOLDREMOVAL
WARNING:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
- This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
1. Release the fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect the vehicle speed control cable (if equipped).
1. Disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.
2. Detach the vehicle speed control cable from the throttle body.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1. Remove the retaining clip and disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.
2. Rotate the outer cable.
- Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body.
5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
6. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure sensor.
8. Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pulse damper (engine shown removed for clarity).
9. Disconnect the fuel injection supply manifold fuel supply line (engine shown removed for clarity).
10. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
11. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold (engine shown removed for clarity).
12. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel injection supply manifold.
- Slide the clip to release the injector.
13. Remove and discard the fuel injector O-ring seals.
INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Do not use silicone grease to lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals as it will block the fuel injectors.
1. NOTE: Install new fuel injector O-ring seals.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil to aid installation.
