Throttle Body: Service and Repair

THROTTLE BODY

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.







2. Remove the snow cover from the throttle body.







3. Disconnect the speed control cable (if equipped).
1. Disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.
2. Detach the speed control cable from the throttle body.







4. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1. Remove the retaining clip and disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.
2. Rotate the outer cable.
- Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body.







5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.







6. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector (air intake housing shown removed for clarity).







7. Remove the throttle body.







8. Remove and discard the throttle body gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.

NOTE: Install a new throttle body gasket.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Initialize the door window motors.
