Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

ACCELERATOR CABLE

REMOVAL

Vehicles built up to 08/2002







1. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1. Remove the accelerator retaining clip.
2. Disconnect the accelerator cable.







2. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body bracket.
1. Rotate the cable counterclockwise.
2. Detach the accelerator cable.

Vehicles built 08/2002 onward







3. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body bracket.
1. Rotate the cable counterclockwise.
2. Detach the accelerator cable.







4. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1 Rotate the throttle body linkage clockwise.
2 Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle body linkage.

All vehicles







5. Remove the footwell trim panel.







6. Disconnect the accelerator cable and pedal grommet from the pedal.







7. Attach a draw cord to the accelerator cable to assist with installation.
8. Remove the accelerator cable.

INSTALLATION

1. NOTE: The rubber grommets must be installed into the bulkhead and throttle body bracket before the accelerator cable pedal grommet is installed into the pedal.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
