Gearshift Cables

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner.





3. Open the shift and selector cable cover.





4. Remove the shift and selector cable.
- Remove the shift and selector cable end fittings from the shift and selector lever.
- Remove the shift and selector cable from the bracket by turning the lower part of abutment clockwise and the upper part counter clockwise.
5. Raise the vehicle.





6. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe and remove it from the rubber insulators.





7. Disconnect the center exhaust hanger insulator and support the exhaust with wire.





8. Loosen the heat shield and push it backwards.
- Unclip the shift and selector cables from the floor pan.
9. Lower the vehicle.





10. Remove the floor console.





11. Remove the center armrest brace.





12. Remove the center console trim panel.
- Remove the LH and RH retaining bolts (RH side shown).





13. Remove the heater air passage.





14. Remove the lower heater case duct.
- Remove the LH and RH bolts and unclip (RH shown).





15. Open up the carpet and damping matting and fold it to one side (heater heat exchanger not shown).





16. Detach the gearshift and selector cables from the gearshift and selector levers.





17. Remove the shift and selector cable bushing from the floor pan and pull the cables through to the vehicle interior (heater heat exchanger not shown).

Installation





1. Install the components in reverse order.





2. Adjust the shift and selector cables.
