Crankshaft Seal Retainer: Service and Repair

Crankshaft Rear Seal with Retainer Plate





Special Tool(s)

Removal
1. Remove the flywheel or flexplate.

2. CAUTION: If the oil pan is not removed damage to the rear seal retainer joint can occur.

Remove the oil pan.





3. Remove the bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal.

Installation
1. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal on the Crankshaft Rear Main Oil Seal Installer.





2. Install the Crankshaft Rear Main Oil Seal Installer and the crankshaft rear oil seal on the crankshaft.
^ Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Remove the Crankshaft Rear Main Oil Seal Installer.
4. Install the oil pan.
5. Install the flywheel or flexplate.
