Engine Mount: Service and Repair

Engine Support Insulators





Special Tool(s)

Removal

Both engine support insulators
1. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.





4. Remove the radiator sight shield.





5. Install the special tool.





6. NOTE: The lifting bracket bolts will be installed when the vehicle is raised.

Position the RH lifting bracket.
7. Remove the dual converter H-pipe.





8. Remove the starter motor terminal cover.





9. Disconnect the starter wiring.
1. Remove the nut and disconnect the battery positive cable.
2. Remove the nut and disconnect the starter solenoid wire.





10. Remove the three bolts and the starter.

11. Install the two bolts for the RH lifting bracket.





12. Remove the two nuts.





13. Install the special tool.





14. Using the special tool, raise the engine.





RH engine support insulator
15. Remove the nut and detach the wiring harness.





16. Remove the bolts, the stud bolt and the engine support insulator.





LH engine support insulator (convertible vehicles)
17. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Remove the six splash shield pushpins.





18. Remove the 13 bolts and the cross brace support.





LH engine support insulator (all except convertible)
19. Remove the subframe brace.

All vehicles
20. Remove the front springs.





21. Position the safety stands.





22. NOTE: Mark the bolts and the crossmember location for assembly reference.

NOTE: LH shown, RH similar. Remove the four bolts.





23. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar. Remove the four bolts.





24. Using the jack stands, lower the front subframe.





LH engine support insulator
25. Remove the nuts and detach the ground cables.





26. Remove the bolt, the stud bolts and the engine support insulator.

Installation





LH engine support insulator
1. Position the engine support insulator and install the bolt and the stud bolts.





2. Attach the ground cables and install the nuts.





All vehicles
3. Using the jack stands, raise the subframe into position.





4. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Using the special tool, align the subframe.





5. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Install the four bolts.





6. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Install the four bolts.





7. Position aside the safety stands.
8. Install the front springs.





All except convertible
9. Install the subframe brace.





Convertible vehicles
10. Position the cross brace support and install the 13 bolts.





11. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Install the six splash shield pushpins.





RH engine support insulator
12. Position the engine support insulator and install the bolts and the stud bolt.





13. Attach the wiring harness and install the nut.





Both engine support insulators
14. Using the special tool, lower the engine and remove the special tool.





15. Install the two nuts.





16. Remove the two bolts from the RH lifting bracket.





17. Position the starter and install the bolts.





18. Install the starter wires.
^ Position the solenoid wire and install the nut.
^ Position the battery cable and install the nut.





19. Install the cap.
20. Install the dual converter H-pipe.





21. Remove the RH lifting bracket.





22. Install the radiator sight shield.
23. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
24. Install the battery ground cable.
