Normal Operation
The engine speed is monitored by the powertrain control module (PCM) through the crankshaft position sensor. The crankshaft position sensor is hardwired directly to the PCM through circuit 8-RJ4 (WH/RD) and circuit 10-RJ4 (GY/RD). The status of the crankshaft position sensor is sent from the PCM to the instrument cluster over the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network, circuits 4-EG8 (GY/VT) and 5-EG8 (BU/WH).
