Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair

Special Tool(s)

CAUTION: Do not remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump. The power steering pulley is not removable and damage to the pulley may occur.

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.

1. Remove the engine appearance cover.
2. Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
4. Remove the LH front frame rail deflector shields.








5. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the illustration and table.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
7. Fill and leak test the system.

Item 1: Accessory Drive Belt Removal Note





1. Release the tension and position the belt aside.

Item 3: Compressor Bolts Removal Note





1. To ease the removal of the upper air conditioning compressor bolts, remove the bolt and detach the power steering line retainer bracket aside.

Item 8: Pressure Line Fitting Removal Note





1. Position the power steering reservoir out of the way.
1 Loosen the bolts.
2 Rotate the reservoir out of the insulators.
3 Position the power steering pump out of the way.

Item 9: O-Ring Installation Note





1. Using the special tool, install a new Teflon seal on the pressure line fitting.

Item 8: Pressure Line Fitting Installation Note





1. Install the power steering reservoir.
