Removal
All vehicles
1. Remove the brake drum.
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes
2. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor ring.
All vehicles
3. Remove and discard the water seal carrier.
4. Remove the snap ring.
5. Using a press and suitable adapters, remove the wheel bearing.
6. Remove the water seal from the wheel spindle.
Installation
All vehicles
1. CAUTION: Support the brake drum on the wheel mounting face and not on the wheel nut studs or damage to the wheel studs may occur.
Using a press and suitable adapters, install a new wheel bearing.
2. Install the snap ring.
3. Using the special tools, install a new water seal carrier.
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes
4. CAUTION: When installing the wheel speed sensor ring, make sure the sensor ring is clean and avoid any impact on the sensor ring or damage to the sensor ring may occur.
CAUTION: Avoid any contact between the wheel speed sensor ring and a magnetic surface or damage to the sensor ring may occur.
Using the special tool, install a new wheel speed sensor ring.
All vehicles
5. Using emery cloth, or other suitable material, remove any pitting or corrosion from the leading edge of the wheel spindle seal running surface.
6. Position the water seal and protective cap onto the wheel spindle.
7. Using the special tool, install the water seal and protective cap.
^ Tighten the special tool to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).
8. Remove and discard the protective cap.
9. Install the brake drum.
