Axle Housing:

Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the driveshaft.
3. Remove the stabilizer bar.

Convertibles
4. Remove the rear support braces.

All vehicles

5. NOTE: Secure the differential housing to the transmission jack with a suitable strap.

Support the differential housing with a suitable transmission jack.





6. Remove and discard the shock absorber nuts and shock absorber bolts.
^ To install, tighten new nuts and bolts to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).





7. Remove and discard the upper control arm nut and upper control arm bolt.
^ To install, tighten the new nut and bolt to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).





8. Lower the axle slightly and remove the springs.





9. Remove and discard the trailing arm nuts and trailing arm bolts.
^ To install, tighten new nuts and bolts to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).





10. Disconnect the lower suspension arms from the axle housing.





11. Lower the axle housing from the vehicle.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
