Pinpoint Test F: The Demand Lighting Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Smart Junction Box (SJB) supplies voltage to the demand lamps on circuit CLN09 (YE/GN). The demand lamps are grounded through circuit GD133 (BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Interior/map lamps
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST F: THE DEMAND LIGHTING IS INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION

- Check the operation of the courtesy lamps with any door open.
- Are the courtesy lamps on with any door open?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
Go To Pinpoint Test A. Pinpoint Test A: The Courtesy Lamps Are Inoperative

-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK CIRCUIT CLN09 (YE/GN) FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280d.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the SJB C2280d-21, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and battery positive.

- Do the demand lamps illuminate when switched on?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to F4.

No
LEAVE the jumper wire connected. VERIFY the SJB fuse 25 (10A) is OK. If OK, GO to F3. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.

-------------------------------------------------
F3 CHECK CIRCUIT CLN09 (YE/GN) FOR VOLTAGE

- Disconnect: Interior Lamp C931.
- Measure the voltage between the interior lamp C931-3, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and ground
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new interior lamp. REFER to Interior Lamp Service and Repair.

No
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION

- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
