Air Cleaner

Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) electrical connector.

2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) housing bolt.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

4.0L SOHC and 4.6L (3V) vehicles

3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the ACL outlet pipe-to-ACL housing cover.
- To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

5.4L (4V) vehicles

4. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the ACL outlet pipe-to-ACL housing.
- To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

All vehicles

5. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 rubber grommets are retained to the ACL assembly feet.
Release the ACL housing from the ACL inlet pipe and remove the ACL assembly.

6. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 ACL assembly feet rubber grommets are seated into the locating holes in the fender.

NOTE: The ACL outlet pipe should be securely sealed to prevent unmetered air from entering the engine.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
