Pinpoint Test F: DTC U0101:00

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 42, Vehicle Dynamic Systems for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation
- DTC U0101:00 (Lost Communication With TCM: No Sub Type Information - this DTC sets In the ABS module if the PRNDL message that should be received from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is missing for 5 seconds or longer.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- TCM
- ABS module

PINPOINT TEST F: DTC U0101

F1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

F2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the module pass the network test?

Yes
GO to F3.

No
REFER to Module Communications Network Testing and Inspection.

F3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded ABS DTCs from the self-test.
- Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. [1][2]Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions

No
GO to F4.

F4 CHECK FOR DTC U0101 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear the DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC U0101:00 or DTC U0101 set in more than one module?

Yes
INSTALL a new TCM. REFER to Automatic Shifting Manual Transmission/Transaxle Transmission Control Module (TCM). TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the ABS module self-test.

No
INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
