MIL WITH DTC U029F AND/OR NO CRANK WITH
FUSE F27 OPEN IN BJB - BUILT ON OR BEFORE

2011 Fiesta

ISSUE
Some 2011 Fiesta vehicles may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U029F set in the powertrain control module (PCM) and/or a no crank condition with no communication with the PCM due to fuse F27 open in the battery junction box (BJB).

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Is fuse F27 open in the BJB?

a. Yes - Replace fuse F27. Proceed to Step 3.

b. No - Go to Step 3.





3. Lift driver's side rear seat cushion and inspect for in-line fuse to natural vacuum leak detection (NVLD) module. Is fuse present? (Figure 1)

a. Yes - Inspect fuse

(1) Open - Replace in-line fuse. Proceed to Step 4.

(2) Closed - Reconnect the battery.
Discontinue with procedure and refer to
Powertrain Controls/Emissions
Diagnosis (PC/ED), pinpoint test HZ -
NVLD.

b. No - Install NVLD in-line fuse wiring harness kit. Follow instructions in kit. Proceed to Step 4.

4. Replace NVLD module with NVLD module and hose assembly service kit. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-13.

NOTE
ALL PARTS IN NVLD MODULE AND HOSE
ASSEMBLY SERVICE KIT MUST BE INSTALLED.
FAILURE TO REPLACE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MAY
RESULT IN REPEAT REPAIR FOR P0456.

5. Reconnect the battery.
