AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - AXLE SEAL LEAK
RIGHT HAND SIDE - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 7/30/2010

2011 Fiesta

ISSUE
Some 2011 Fiesta vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and built on or before 7/30/2010 may exhibit a right hand (RH) side axle seal leak at the transmission.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE





Inspect the halfshaft bearing location. The halfshaft shoulder should be press fitted flush against the bearing. There should be no visible machined halfshaft sur[ace in this location. If any gap exists between the halfshaft shoulder and bearing, replace the halfshaft (Figure 1).

1. Remove and discard suspect RH halfshaft. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 205-04.

2. Replace RH halfshaft seal. Refer to WSM, Section 307-11.

3. Install new RH halfshaft. Refer to WSM, Section 205-04.
