Outer Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot
Removal
1. Remove the inner CV joint boot. For additional information, refer to Inner Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot Inner Constant Velocity (CV) Joint Boot.
2. NOTICE: Use a vise with protective jaw covers or damage to the shaft may occur.
Remove the outer CV joint boot.
- Remove the boot clamps.
- Pull the boot inward over the front drive halfshaft.
Installation
1. Pack the CV joint with the required amount of grease.
2. NOTICE: Use care not to damage the boot or component damage may occur.
Install the outer CV joint boot.
- Slide the outer boot outward over the CV joint.
- Press the boot into the annular groove on the drive joint.
- Slide a small screwdriver under the boot seat to allow the air to escape.
- Locate the boot in position and remove the screwdriver.
3. Install the outer boot clamps using the Constant Velocity Joint Boot Clamp Installer.
