Halfshaft Seal - LH
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.
2. Remove the front LH halfshaft. For additional information, refer to Front Drive Halfshafts Front Drive Halfshafts.
3. Inspect the halfshaft hub for wear or damage and install a new halfshaft if necessary.
1. Inspect the differential seal surface.
2. Inspect the halfshaft bushing surface. If this surface is damaged, inspect the halfshaft bushing for damage.
3. Inspect the differential side gear splines.
4. Using a suitable awl, poke a small hole in the halfshaft seal.
5. Using a suitable dent puller, remove the halfshaft seal.
Installation
1. Install a new halfshaft seal on the Cover Axle Seal Installer and Handle.
2. Using the Cover Axle Seal Installer and Handle, install the LH halfshaft seal.
NOTICE: Failure to install the seal protector when installing the halfshaft may damage the seal.
3. Install the seal protector provided with the new halfshaft seal. Follow the instructions provided with the new seal.
4. Install the front LH halfshaft. For additional information, refer to Front Drive Halfshafts Front Drive Halfshafts.
5. Check and top off the transmission fluid to the correct level. To check the transmission fluid level, refer to Preliminary Inspection Preliminary Inspection.
