Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair




Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

General Procedure

1. Remove the 2 instrument panel insulator retainers and the instrument panel insulator.






2. NOTE: The FP (Fuel Pump) control module fuse is located in the BCM (Body Control Module), location F56.
Remove the FP (Fuel Pump) control module fuse.






3. NOTE: A message center warning display 'engine malfunction service now' may display on the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). Reset the message center by pressing the OK button on the steering wheel controls.
Start the engine and allow it to idle until it stalls.

4. After the engine stalls, crank the engine for approximately 20 seconds to make sure the fuel system pressure has been released.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

6. When fuel system service is complete, install the FP (Fuel Pump) control module fuse.

7. NOTE: It may take more than one key cycle to pressurize the fuel system.
Cycle the ignition key and wait 3 seconds to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks before starting the engine.

8. Install the instrument panel insulator and retainers.
