Battery Connections and Fasteners
Generator and Starter Motor Connections
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .
2. Disconnect the battery. REFER to Battery Disconnect .
3. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner). REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View .
4. Completely loosen the battery positive cable harness terminal nut from the high current BJB (Battery Junction Box) and position the wire harness aside.
5. Remove the generator B+ terminal cover.
6. Remove the generator B+ terminal nut and position the generator B+ terminal aside.
7. Disconnect the wire harness retainer from the transmission bracket, if equipped with an automation transmission.
8. Remove the 6 pushpins, the 7 screws and the radiator air deflector.
9. Disconnect the battery cable in-line electrical connector.
10. Remove the starter solenoid wire terminal nut.
11. Remove the starter B+ terminal nut and position the wire harness aside.
12. Disconnect the 2 wire harness retainers from the heater hose and starter motor bracket. Position the wire harness aside.
13. Remove the battery cable.
Installation
1. Position the battery cable and connect the 2 wire harness retainers to the heater hose and starter motor bracket.
2. Connect the wire harness to the starter solenoid and install the starter B+ terminal nut.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
3. Install the starter solenoid wire terminal nut.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
4. Connect the battery cable in-line electrical connector.
5. Position the radiator air deflector, and install the 7 screws and 6 pushpins.
6. Connect the wire harness retainer to the transmission bracket, if equipped with an automation transmission.
7. Position the generator B+ terminal and install the nut.
- Tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
8. Install the generator B+ terminal cover.
9. Connect the battery positive cable harness nut to the high current BJB (Battery Junction Box).
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
10. Install the ACL (Air Cleaner). REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View .
11. Connect the battery. REFER to Battery Disconnect .
