CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:

The Fuel Cut-Off solenoid is energized by the Fuel Cut-off Relay with the the ignition switch "ON." When the ignition switch is turned "OFF" the Fuel Cut-off solenoid is de-energized and fuel is immediately cut-off to prevent dieseling. Using the signal from the idle switch the ECM also shuts down fuel when it senses the coasting condition after off-idle condition.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. Checks to see if Code 22 is intermittent.

2. Determines if relay or ECM circuits are at fault.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:

Check Fuel Cut-Off relay connector, located behind instrument panel. Check for loose connections or backed out terminals.
