Fuel Pump: Description and Operation

Fuel Pump:

The fuel pump is located on the cylinder head. The engine camshaft causes a rocker arm on the fuel pump to actuate a diaphragm inside the pump housing. The up and down motion of the diaphragm causes fuel to be sucked in from the fuel tank and pushed out to the carburetor. Check valves inside the pump prevent fuel from flowing in the wrong direction.
