Throttle Body: Service and Repair

1. Remove carburetor from vehicle.
2. Cover primary and secondary throttle bores and carburetor ports to prevent metal chips and/or dirt from entering carburetor.
3. Mark center of concealment plug with a suitable punch.
4. Using a suitable drill bit, drill a hole in the plug and thread a screw into the hole. Since the width of the plug is .390 inch, the drill depth should be less than this amount.
5. Pull screw with pliers and remove concealment plug.
6. Inspect idle mixture adjusting screw for wear and/or damage. Replace screw, if necessary. If screw is replaced, reset idle speed and mixture adjustments as required.
7. Install a new concealment plug as follows:
a. Remove oil from carburetor side hole and plug.
b. Apply Loctite 262 or equivalent onto concealment plug.
c. Drive in new concealment plug, until plug top is flush with carburetor surface.
