System Diagnosis - A/C Condenser Fan

1. Turn ignition switch to On position and press A/C switch. If condenser fan does not operate, proceed to step 3.
2. If fan operates, press A/C switch Off. If fan stops, system is functioning properly. If fan continues to operate, proceed to step 16.
3. Disconnect fan motor connector and connect a suitable test lamp between cavities 1 and 2. If lamp lights, replace condenser fan motor.
4. If lamp does not light, connect a suitable digital ohmmeter from fan motor connector cavity 1 to ground and measure resistance. If resistance is greater than 3 ohms, repair black wire between fan motor and ground G104.
5. If resistance is less than 3 ohms, backprobe fan relay connector with test lamp from cavity 4 to ground. If lamp lights, repair open in blue/black wire.
6. If lamp does not light, disconnect fan relay connector and connect test lamp from cavity 2 to ground. If lamp does not light, repair open in red wire.
7. If lamp lights, connect an ohmmeter from fan relay connector cavity 3 to ground and measure resistance. If resistance is greater than 1.0 ohms, repair black wire between fuse and relay box and G104.
8. If resistance is less than 1.0 ohms, connect test lamp from fan relay connector cavity 1 to ground. If lamp lights, replace fan relay.
9. If lamp does not light, backprobe A/C clutch relay with test lamp from cavity 4 to ground. If lamp lights, repair open in light green/red wire between clutch relay and fan relay.
10. If lamp does not light, disconnect clutch relay connector and connect a test lamp from cavity 3 to battery positive. If test lamp lights, replace condenser fan relay. If test lamp does not light, go to step 14.
11. Connect test lamp from A/C compressor clutch relay connector cavity 1 to chassis ground. If test lamp lights, replace A/C compressor clutch relay.
12. If lamp does not light, disconnect dual pressure switch connector. Connect test lamp from cavity 2 to ground. If lamp does not light, repair open in black/white wire between S105 and dual pressure switch.
13. If lamp lights, connect a fused jumper from dual pressure switch connector cavity 2 to cavity 1 and reconnect all relays. If condenser fan operates, replace dual pressure switch. If condenser fan does not operate, repair open in yellow wire between dual pressure switch and compressor clutch relay.
14. Disconnect A/C amplifier connector, then connect an ohmmeter from amplifier connector cavity 7 to clutch relay connector cavity 3 and measure resistance. If resistance is greater than 1.0 ohms, repair open in pink wire. If resistance is less than 1.0 ohms, problem is in A/C amplifier system.
15. Disconnect condenser fan relay connector, if fan continues to operate, repair short to voltage in blue/black wire.
16. If fan stops, connect test lamp from fan relay connector cavity 1 to ground. If lamp does not light, replace fan relay.
17. If lamp lights, disconnect clutch relay connector and connect test lamp from connector cavity 4 to ground. If lamp lights, repair short to voltage in light green/red wire between compressor clutch relay and condenser fan relay.
18. If lamp does not light, connect an ohmmeter from clutch relay connector cavity 3 to ground and measure resistance. Is resistance is infinite, replace clutch relay. If resistance is less than infinite, problem is in A/C amplifier system.
