Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The three center sensor assembly connectors employ an electrical connection check mechanism similar to the forward sensors. When a connector is fully connected to the center sensor assembly, the electrical connection check mechanism closes to indicate a proper connection. If a connector is loose or becomes disconnected partially from the center sensor assembly, the check mechanism opens.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
DTC 24 will set if one or more of the center sensor assembly connectors is loose or disconnected.

ACTION TAKEN
The center sensor assembly will illuminate the "AIR BAG" indicator and will open the safety circuit preventing SRS operation.

TEST DESCRIPTION:
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test checks for a loose connection to the center sensor assembly.
2. This lest determines whether the fault is due to a faulty connector or a faulty center sensor assembly.
