Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair
Engine Compartment Fuel HosesRemove or Disconnect
^ Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to "Fuel System Pressure Relief" in this section.
1. Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
Air Cleaner Assembly Removal:
^ Loosen air cleaner (ACL) clamp bolt and remove ACL hose from throttle body (TB).
2. Four ACL cap clips from ACL housing.
3. ACL cap and hose from engine compartment.
EVAP Hoses And Canister:
4. Two evaporative emission (EVAP) hoses from EVAP canister.
5. One bolt and EVAP canister from bracket.
6. One bolt and fuel feed outlet hose from top of fuel filter.
Engine Compartment Fuel Hoses:
7. One bolt and fuel feed hose bracket from tower LH intake manifold.
8. One bolt and fuel feed hose from fuel rail.
9. Two clamps and fuel return hose from fuel pressure regulator and pipe.
10. Two clamps and fuel return hose from fuel return pipe by EVAP canister.
11. One clamp and EVAP (vapor) hose from fuel vapor pipe.
Install or Connect
1. EVAP (vapor) hose to fuel vapor pipe; secure with one clamp.
2. Fuel return hose to fuel return pipe by EVAP canister; secure with two clamps.
3. Fuel return hose to fuel pressure regulator and fuel return pipe; secure with two clamps.
^ Insert new gaskets onto fuel feed inlet-to-fuel rail connection.
4. Fuel feed hose to fuel rail; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ Fuel feed hose-to-fuel rail bolt to 29 Nm (21 lb.ft.).
5. Fuel feed hose bracket to lower LH intake manifold; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ Fuel feed hose bracket bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb.in.).
^ Insert new gaskets onto fuel feed hose-to-fuel filter bolt.
6. Fuel feed hose to top of fuel filter; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ Fuel feed hose bolt to 29 Nm (21 lb.ft.).
7. EVAP canister to bracket; secure with one bolt.
Tighten
^ EVAP canister bracket bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb.ft.).
8. Two EVAP hoses to EVAP canister; secure with one clamp.
9. ACL cap to ACL housing; secure with four clips.
10. ACL hose to TB; secure with one clamp.
11. IAT sensor electrical connector.
12. Negative (-) battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb.ft.).
^ Turn ignition switch to "ON" and momentarily connect a jumper between DLC terminals "+B" and "Fp" to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.
