Chart A2-2 MIL Will Not Flash DTCS On Steady

Malfunction Indicator Lamp Will Not Flash DTCs, On Steady:

System Electrical Schematic:

Circuit Description:
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will flash diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that are in the powertrain control modules (PCM's) memory when the data link connector (DLC) terminals "TE1" and "E1" are jumpered.

Test Description:
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. This checks for a short to ground in RED/YEL wire.

2. This checks for an open BLU/WHT (diagnostic request signal) wire.

3. This checks for an open in the BRN ground wire to the DLC or for a faulty PCM.

Diagnostic Aids:
An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect hamess connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals and poor terminal-to-wire connections before component replacement.
