Upshifts and Torque Converter Clutch Apply

With the manual selector in "D" (drive) position and the "OVERDRIVE" switch depressed, accelerate the vehicle using steadily increasing throttle pressure. Note the vehicle speeds and shift points for:

- 2nd gear.
- 3rd gear.
- Overdrive.

Evaluation
Note the vehicle speeds and shift points at which the TCC engages. TCC apply should occur in 3rd gear or O/D). If TCC application is not noticed, refer to the "Diagnostic Circuit Check" in this section under "Testing and Inspection/On-Board Diagnostics."

Important
The TCC will not apply unless transaxle fluid has reached a normal operating temperature of 50 to 80° C (122 to 176° F).
