The HFL system does not recognize all voice prompts

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting, refer to General Troubleshooting Information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overviewto make sure the phone is compatible and configured correctly. You can also check online at handsfreelink.honda.com or call the HFL support desk at 888-528-7876.

1. Connect the HDS to the DLC Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any DTCs indicated?

YES -

Repair the indicated DTCs, and recheck.�

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Check if the customer concern is duplicated.

Can the customer's problem be duplicated?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

The system is OK at this time. Ask the customer to demonstrate the concern. Try to duplicate the concern on a known-good vehicle. If the known-good vehicle has the same concern, it should be a characteristic of the system.�

6. If the vehicle is equipped with navigation system, check if the navigation system can recognize voice prompts.

Can the voice prompts be recognized?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Go to Voice control does not work/respond troubleshooting Voice Control Does Not Work/Respond (10 Model).�

7. Pair the customer's phone to a known-good vehicle (same year and trim), and try to duplicate the concern.

Can you duplicate the problem?

YES -

Call the HFL support desk at 888-528-7876, and inquire if there are any known issues for the problem. If there are no known issues, explain to the customer's this is a system characteristic and cannot be improved at this time.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good HFL-navigation microphon, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the HFL-navigation microphone. If the symptom still present, substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.�
