Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (without navigation)

No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (without navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Do the individual speaker test Audio System Sound Quality Diagnosis.
- Set the fader and balance positions to the center.
- Before doing symptom troubleshooting, do the audio unit power switch will not turn on troubleshooting Audio Unit Power Switch Will Not Turn On (No Information Display And No Sound) (Without Navigation).

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Turn on the audio unit, and make sure the volume knob is not set to the MIN level.

Is it at the MIN level?

YES -

Raise the volume level, and recheck the function.�

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. See if the problem recurs with the tuner and more than one CD.

Does the problem recur using the tuner as well as CDs?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Go to poor AM or FM radio reception or interference troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.�

4. Do the speaker check mode in the audio system self-diagnostic function.�

- '10 model Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Do all speakers produce a tone?

YES -

System is OK at this time. Check for poor connections at the audio unit, the speakers.�

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Check the speaker(s) with no sound for any damage.

Is there any damage?

YES -

Substitute a known-good speaker(s) Speaker Test/Replacement, and recheck.�

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Remove the speaker(s) with no sound Speaker Test/Replacement, and disconnect its connector.

8. Measure the resistance between the terminals No. 1 and No. 2 of the speaker connector.

Is there about 4 Ohms?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Replace the speaker(s) Speaker Test/Replacement.�

9. Check the speaker 2P connector for a loose or poor connection.

[ ]: '08-10 EX-L models

Reconnect the speaker 2P or 6P connector and recheck the symptom; is there still no sound?

YES -

- Subwoofer: Go to step 19.
- Except subwoofer: Go to step 10.

NO -

Operation is normal at this time.�

10. Remove the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation. Disconnect the audio unit connector A (17P).

11. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector A (17P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker(s).�

NO -

- Except LX model: Go to step 12.
- LX model: Go to step 13.

12. Disconnect the 2P connector(s) from the tweeter(s).

13. Measure the resistance between each pair of speaker terminals of audio unit connector A (17P) according to the table.









Is the resistance OK?

YES -

- Except LX model: Go to step 14.
- LX model: Go to step 18.

NO -

Repair an open or a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker(s).�

14. Disconnect the connector(s) from the front door speaker(s).

15. Connect the tweeter connector terminal (+) and (-) with a jumper wire.






16. Check for continuity between each pair of speaker terminals at audio unit connector A (17P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 17.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker.�

17. Disconnect the jumper wire.

18. Check for continuity between audio unit connector A (17P) and body ground according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the speaker.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.

19. Measure the voltage between subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 6 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 20.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the No. 17 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 6.�

20. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and push the VOL PUSH PWR knob to on the audio unit.

21. Measure the voltage between subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 22.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 5 and audio unit connector B (20P) terminal No. 16.�

22. Measure the voltage between subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 23.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground (G552).

23. Disconnect the subwoofer 6P connector, and audio unit connector D (5P).

24. Check for continuity between the subwoofer 6P connector and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and subwoofer 6P connector terminal No. 1 (the harness shield).









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between the subwoofer and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 25.

25. Check for continuity between audio unit connector D (5P) and the subwoofer 6P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good subwoofer Speaker Test/Replacement, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original subwoofer Speaker Test/Replacement.�

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the subwoofer.�
