VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 134

DTC 134:

Steering Angle Sensor (Software)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 91 indicated with DTC 134 at the same time?

YES -

Do the DTC 91 troubleshooting VSA System.�

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. Put the vehicle on a level surface, and center the steering wheel spokes.

4. Check the Z-PHASE in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is there about 1.0 V or less with the steering wheel straight ahead?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Go to step 7.

5. Start the engine.

6. Turn the steering wheel left and right at 90 degrees or more. Check the STEERING ANGLE in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is there ±90 ° or more while turning the steering wheel?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Replace the steering angle sensor Service and Repair.�

7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

8. Check the installation of the steering angle sensor Service and Repair.

Is the steering angle sensor installed correctly?

YES -

Go to step 15.

NO -

Go to step 9.

9. Reinstall the steering angle sensor.

10. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

11. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

12. Test-drive the vehicle around a number of corners.

NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

13. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 134 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

The system is OK at this time.�

14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

15. Substitute a known-good steering angle sensor Service and Repair.

16. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

17. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

18. Test-drive the vehicle around a number of corners.

NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

19. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 134 indicated?

YES -

Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then retest. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.

NO -

Replace the original steering angle sensor Service and Repair.�
