VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 65
DTC 65:
Brake Fluid Level Too Low
1. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.
Is brake fluid level OK?
YES -
Go to step 2.
NO -
Do the brake pad inspection; front Rear Brake Pad Inspection And Replacement, rear Rear Brake Pad Inspection And Replacement, check for brake fluid leaks or replace worn brake pads, then go to step 2 65 and recheck.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn it to ON (II) again.
5. Wait 60 seconds or more.
6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 65 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals at the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
8. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch 2P connector.
9. Check the brake fluid level switch Testing and Inspection.
Is the brake fluid level switch OK?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Replace the reservoir (brake fluid level switch is included) on the master cylinder Service and Repair.
10. Disconnect the gauge control module 36P connector.
11. Check for continuity between brake fluid level switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the brake fluid level switch.�
NO -
Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.�
