Poor or no sound with audio disc changer (With navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Go into the Diagnostic Menu and use the Navi System Link test ('07-09 models), or System Links ('10 model) Navigation System Diagnostic Mode to check the audio disc changer.

Is the CD-C or 6CD icon green?

YES -

Go to step 2.

NO -

Go to step 5.

2. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector E (14P), the audio disc changer 13P connector, XM receiver connector A (14P) (if equipped), and USB adapter unit (if equipped).

3. Check for continuity between audio disc changer 13P connector and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 4 (the harness shield).









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Check for continuity between audio disc changer 13P connector and audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good audio disc changer Service and Repair, then reconnect the all connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio disc changer Service and Repair. If the symptom/indication is still present, disconnect the XM receiver (if equipped). If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, disconnect the USB adapter unit (if equipped). If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the USB adapter unit USB Adapter Unit Replacement. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit ('07-09 models) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation or audio-navigation unit ('10 model) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.�

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

5. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector E (14P), audio disc changer 13P connector, XM receiver connector A (14P) (if equipped), and USB adapter unit A (14P) (if equipped).

6. Check for continuity between audio disc changer 13P connector and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 3 (the harness shield).









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Check for continuity between audio disc changer 13P connector and audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good audio disc changer Service and Repair, then reconnect the all connectors, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio disc changer Service and Repair. If the symptom/indication is still present, disconnect the XM receiver (if equipped). If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, disconnect the USB adapter unit (if equipped). If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the USB adapter unit USB Adapter Unit Replacement. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit ('07-09 models) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation or audio-navigation unit ('10 model) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.�

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer.�
