Hood Opener Cable Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or the related parts.
- Take care not to kink the opener cable.

1. Remove these items:

- Front bulkhead cover Front Bulkhead Cover Replacement
- Front inner fender, left side Front Inner Fender Replacement
- Kick panel, driver's side Service and Repair
- Front bumper, as needed Front Bumper

2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) Service and Repair, then remove the hood release handle (C) Hood Release Handle Replacement.





3. Detach the clips (D, E) with a clip remover, and remove the grommet (F) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle.

4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Route the cable through the hole in the body.
- Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
- Push the clips into place securely.
